MEP Yannick Jadot received the support of around forty elected environmentalists on Friday evening, including the mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic, before the start of the second round of the ecological primary for the presidential election.
"We, local elected representatives, local elected representatives, and environmental parliamentarians, claim the ecology of gathering and the ecology of government supported by Yannick Jadot", writes this collective of local, regional and European elected representatives in a letter, calling for "to choose a candidate resolutely taking sides to bring together and embody this pragmatic ecology of government ”.
"The time is no longer for the testimony of a radicalism far removed from the exercise of power and its constraints, but for the resolute choice to assume the responsibilities incumbent on us", add the signatories, including the mayor of Bordeaux Pierre. Hurmic, first signatory, MEPs Benoît Biteau and Damien Carême, deputy mayor of Paris David Belliard or former MEP Alain Lipietz.
During the week, Yannick Jadot, opposed in the second round to the economist and former spokesperson for EELV Sandrine Rousseau, had already received the support of other Green executives such as MEP Karima Delli or the president of the metropolis of Lyon Bruno Bernard.
Sandrine Rousseau, for her part, has received the support of several feminist figures, such as Paris adviser Alice Coffin and filmmaker Céline Sciamma.
The second round of the environmentalist primary, for which more than 122,000 voters are registered, will take place online from September 25 to 28.
