After SVT Norrbotten's feature about the shortage of teachers at Sjöparksskolan, two teachers, who had left school, wrote a letter to the children and education administration.

The reason was that they wanted to tell their version to the administration and the school principal about why so many teachers have left school.

The teachers write in the letter that they simply could not live with the feeling of inadequacy and the union, the National Union of Teachers, confirms the current situation.

- The work situation is tough at Sjöparksskolan right now and it has been for a long time.

We see that the workload increases, the teaching time and the tasks increase, says Adam Selldén, association representative for the National Union of Teachers in Gällivare.

Stops due to understaffing

One of the reasons is that the school currently has low qualifications among the staff and those who are unqualified need support and introduction.

Adam Selldén also says that understaffing is one reason why many quit.

- Yes, I would say that, we see it as two different types of understaffing.

Partly services that are too full with teaching time.

But we would also need more teaching positions to cover all the teaching we need, he says.

Hear him explain more about the situation in the video above.
