“The travel advice for all the countries of the world was an extraordinary measure in a difficult and unpredictable time.

The ambition has always been to lift the dissuasion as soon as possible and we believe that we have reached that time now ", says Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S) in a press release.

However, she reminds that the pandemic is not over, which still affects travel.

The global travel advice was introduced in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

It was the first time that such a dissuasion covered the whole world.

Raises hope in the travel industry

However, as the infection situation has improved, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repealed the recommendation, especially for European countries.

But a number of other countries have also been excluded in recent times.

From 1 October, the dissuasion from the remaining countries will be revoked.

In the travel industry, there are hopes that a abolished global travel advice will speed up travel bookings ahead of the autumn and Christmas holidays.

Making trips that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against can limit travel insurance.

Foreign Minister: Travelers have a great responsibility

Linde reminds in the press release that travelers still have a great responsibility to find out for themselves what applies at the destination and to follow the rules and recommendations that exist.

"Although there is no longer a broad dissuasion due to the pandemic, in many countries there are still restrictions that can affect a trip such as requirements for mouth protection, presentation of negative PCR tests or vaccination certificates," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs writes in the press release.

In some countries, entry is still prohibited for foreign travelers.
