Serious single accident on R40 - a man in his 50s died

It was just before half past four on Friday morning that a passing motorist alerted SOS that one was standing in the ditch.

Police and rescue services were on site at Kyllaredsmotet and were able to establish that the driver was dead. 

Later in the morning, the driver, a man in his 50s, was identified and his relatives were notified. 

The motorist drove into the center railing and continued down the ditch.

But what caused the single accident is not yet known. 

- We will take a closer look at the car during a technical investigation to see what may have happened, says Peter Adlersson, press spokesperson for the police region West.  

The traffic on highway 40 was affected early in the morning by the rescue and decontamination work, but will now be open to traffic.
