China News Service, Orenburg, Russia, September 24. The meeting of chiefs of staff of the armed forces of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held on the 23rd at the Dongguz Shooting Range in Orenburg Oblast, Russia.
Li Zuocheng, member of the Central Military Commission and Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff of the Military Commission, attended the meeting.
The meeting pointed out that over the past 20 years since its establishment, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has held high the banner of "Shanghai Spirit" and played an important role in promoting regional development, security and stability.
Participants exchanged views on the current international and regional situation, the security challenges they are facing, and the deepening of military security cooperation. They expressed their concern about the new risks brought about by the hasty withdrawal of foreign troops in Afghanistan, and jointly signed the "Army of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Minutes of the Chiefs of Staff Meeting.
Participants also watched the "Peace Mission-2021" joint counter-terrorism military exercise and agreed that the exercise enhanced the coordination capabilities of the militaries of various countries in combating international terrorist forces.
On the same day, Li Zuocheng met with foreign military leaders such as Gerasimov, the chief of the general staff of the Russian army.
