September 24, 2021 The US Department of Justice has announced a hearing in New York for the "resolution of the charges" against Huawei's chief financial officer, Meng Wanzhou.

The daughter of Huawei founder, telecommunications giant, Ren Zhengfei, would have reached an agreement with the United States to leave Canada, return to China and avoid extradition to the United States. Meng Wanzhou was arrested in 2018 in Vancouver for banking fraud and violations of sanctions on Iran, at the request of the United States.

The details of the terms of the agreement between the parties that would allow Meng Wanzhou to return to China after almost three years of legal battles are not yet known, but from press indiscretions it would seem that based on the agreement, Meng could admit some responsibilities but obtaining in exchange, first the postponement and then the withdrawal of the accusations of financial and banking fraud.

The news had been anticipated by the press, according to which Meng will appear in a video conference in a Federal Court in Brooklyn and should obtain permission to leave Canada.
