Fishermen are demonstrating this Friday against offshore wind projects.

In Ouistreham, in Calvados, they denounce an ecological disaster which reduces maritime biodiversity and which has a negative impact on their fishing.

For or against wind turbines?

The fishermen have already settled the debate: it is no, especially if they are installed in the open sea. But many projects are currently under study off the Normandy coast.

The fishermen are therefore taking action once again this Friday to denounce what they consider to be an ecological and economic disaster.

150 boats were expected in front of the ports of Cherbourg and Le Havre.

Ecological disaster

"Messrs. Castex and Macron would have to deign to move around at the auction to see the damage it does", denounces a fisherman in Ouistreham, who highlights the ecological disaster represented by the installation of offshore wind turbines in his fishing area . "It's out of the ordinary," he explains. One of his colleagues sells whelks. His catch has gone from two tons to 80 kilos per day. "All because they make wind turbines."

"We are still at sea. We are the sentries to know what is at the bottom. In terms of biodiversity, it will be catastrophic," denounces another fisherman who is preparing to demonstrate with his colleagues.

They have no other choice but to invite themselves into the presidential campaign.

Their goal: to be seen and to suspend the projects in the hope that "it does not go badly".
