9.25 Courts on the Diagonal in Barcelona

More than a hundred protesters cut the Diagonal in Barcelona in the protest called by the ANC before the Italian consulate for the arrest of Carles Puigdemont in Alger.

As it could not be otherwise, there is a strong representation of members of JxCat such as the leader of this formation, Jordi Sànchez, as the president of the Parliament, Laura Borràs, the former minister Jordi Turull or the vice president Jordi Puigneró.

There are also ERC representatives, such as the vice president of the Parliament, Alba Vergés, or the Republican deputy Jenn Diaz, as well as representatives of pro-independence entities such as the president d'Òmnium, Jordi Cuixart.

There is a strong police device to prevent incidents.

9.20 The defense strategy

Puigdemont's lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, has said that they will ask the General Court of the European Union (TGUE) very cautiously to stop the detention.

It does not contemplate the extradition since it assures that the order was not given to the Italian authorities.

In statements to Rac1, he assured that the TGUE considered the euro order against the former president to be suspended and opened the door to restore his immunity as a precautionary measure in the event of arrest.

Boye believes that the European court should respond within 72 hours.
