Quad's first face-to-face summit was held in the United States, in which the United States, India, Australia, and Japan participate. There have been comments related to vaccines and climate cooperation, but there are also observations that these are also aimed at China.

<Reporter> The

summit of the 'quad' member states in which the US, India, Australia and Japan participated was held at the White House at the invitation of US President Biden.

It was the first face-to-face meeting in six months after meeting once through a video conference in March.

[Joe Biden/President of the United States: The four quadrants have made concrete commitments to advance a common positive agenda in the Indo-Pacific region. Today, I am proud to say that we are making great progress.]

Although not officially

promoted, the

Quad is a security consultative body created to contain China in effect. Even at this summit, the leaders will mainly focus on Indo-Pacific prosperity, such as vaccines and climate cooperation. Although the remarks were focused, there are observations that all of them are aimed at China.

[Narendra Modi/Prime Minister of India: Quad's vaccine initiative will be of great help to countries in the Indo-Pacific region. Quad decided to move forward with a positive mind based on common democratic values.]

In particular, it is known that these four countries have decided to expand cooperation in space and cyber space, such as sharing satellite data and establishing a high-level cyber bureaucratic council.

While there is an argument that the US should expand the quad to quad plus in the future to increase the number of cooperation countries, Korea is in the position that it has not yet been officially asked to participate.
