In the Dalarna Region, the issue is being investigated that healthcare staff who are newly hired must be vaccinated against covid-19.

The Liberals in Örebro municipality want to see a similar investigation in Örebro municipality - with the addition of also being able to relocate staff if patient safety requires it.

- I want us to look at whether vaccination requirements are a good way to keep the infection out.

Today, virtually all care recipients in elderly care are vaccinated, but despite this, the infection finds its way into homes.

I want to stop that, says Johanna Reimfelt (L), second vice chair of the program committee Social Welfare.

Matter of trust

The party does not currently have an answer as to how this should be done.

That is why they want the municipality to investigate the possibility.

One aspect is how the personal integrity of the staff can be protected if a vaccination requirement is introduced.

- You must have consent first to get that information.

Then it is a matter of trust between the employer and the employee and that is the next step.

But I am not a politician who does not believe in courage to try to lift every single stone to protect the elderly, says Karolina Wallström (L), municipal councilor.

The Social Democrats are skeptical

The Social Democrats welcome the initiative, but believe that there is probably no possibility of introducing the demands the Liberals want to see.

- We follow the laws, advice and recommendations given by authorities.

We can handle the issue of course, but do not consider it feasible, says John Johansson (S), incoming chairman of the municipal board in Örebro.
