Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom ordered "reinforce the discipline for working in public service and raise awareness" regarding the suspicion of illegal receipt of overtime pay and travel expenses by some local government officials.

Prime Minister Kim said today (24th), "Although telecommuting and flexible work due to Corona 19 will be activated, please thoroughly check the working conditions of public officials, centered on the Office of the Inspector General of each department, to establish a working discipline."

Accordingly, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security plans to request that all local governments across the country conduct an audit on overtime pay and travel expenses through their own audit organizations and notify them of the results.

In addition, for central administrative agencies, the Ministry of Personnel Management and Innovation will re-examine the overtime pay and travel expenses systems, and the Office of Government Policy Coordination will request the audit department of each agency to self-check.

After that, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, National Affairs Office, and Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission will conduct on-site inspections and, if they find cases of overtime pay or travel expenses being unreasonable, they will impose an additional surcharge up to double, and demand that those caught three or more times be subject to disciplinary action.
