A typical household in the UK is likely to pay 1,489 euros per year, instead of 162 euros now.

An increase that comes as financial assistance to the poorest is on the verge of declining.

Consumer aid associations are concerned, as the director of Citizens Advice Claire Moriarty explains:

We have more and more people contacting us, and we see people whose finances are really tight, we know that winter is going to be very difficult for people with low incomes.

The global gas shortage is

hitting the UK hard.

The British government said on Wednesday September 22 that it was "

preparing for the worst

 ".

Seven companies have already closed and, according to the Energy Regulatory Office, others will follow.
