The National Court has ordered the closure of a magazine and a website on the situation of ETA prisoners edited by Sortu.

The order issued by magistrate Manuel García Castellón on the 15th affirms that the closure aims to avoid "the enhancement of the trajectory and praise of members of the terrorist group ETA."

The closure had been demanded last July by the Audience Prosecutor's Office "as a precautionary measure in view of the fact that ETA's terrorism is exalted in it, through

[acts of welcome] and other acts of homage dispensed to members of the terrorist gang ETA ".

The magistrate's resolution indicates that the magazine

-to which the website kalerakalera.eus corresponds- is "edited by the commission in favor of the ETA prisoners of SORTU", the party that constitutes the nucleus of the electoral coalition EH Bildu .

The judge agrees "to adopt the appropriate technical measures to immediately leave the line offline and disable any access through the data lines of the website www.kalerakalera.eus, as well as the KALERAINFO magazine".

The magistrate entrusts it to the Civil Guard, whose previous reports have led to the magistrate's decision.

The "blocking of the links", he adds, must occur while "the investigation continues to find out those responsible for the criminal exaltation."

Still accessible

The order indicates that it must be done "immediately", although today it was still possible to access the web and download the issues of the magazine. The main information this morning was the news that "Arantza Zulueta and Jon Enparantza are already on the street," in reference to two regular ETA lawyers convicted themselves of terrorism. It was illustrated by a photo of Enparantza next to a drawing of a flower. The news is accompanied by a downloadable pdf with the latest issue of the magazine.

The members of Sortu Haimar Altuna and Oihana Garmendia denounced the closure yesterday and announced that they had appealed the "serious" decision of the National Court.

"The deep state is attacking the communicative activity of a political party. It is attacking fundamental rights and legal actions, such as the right to inform," they stated at a press conference in San Sebastián.
