The inhabitants of the rather poor Offenbach are already looking forward to the only remaining swimming pool on the Rosenhöhe getting a new air dome so that they can swim in winter.

You and many other city dwellers can only dream of a sports and leisure facility like the one that Darmstadt opened with the new Nordbad.

The newly built indoor pool has a 50-meter competition pool, a 25-meter multi-purpose pool including a three-meter diving platform, an extra teaching pool measuring 20 by 12 meters, an exercise pool with a length of 12.5 meters and an area for small children to splash around.

A building from the 1970s had to give way to the new indoor swimming pool.

According to the city, the new building cost 39 million euros - with the outdoor facilities and outdoor pool buildings it is 47 million euros.

The light-flooded building was designed by Sacker Architekten GmbH from Freiburg.

In order to offer swimmers an offer during the construction period, the 50-meter pool of the adjoining DSW outdoor pool was fitted with an air dome three years ago.

In addition to the new indoor pool, the DSW pool will continue to be available as an outdoor pool.

It is connected to the technology of the north pool in the winter half-year.

In addition, new functional buildings are to be built.

The major project will be completed with the design of the sunbathing and open spaces.

With an appointment and the 3-G rule

Everything should be ready for the outdoor swimming pool season 2022.

Mayor Jochen Partsch (Die Grünen) sees the new building as an important public service project, and at the same time it is proof of the efficiency of the city and its own businesses.

He emphasizes that Darmstadt offers its citizens no less than four indoor pools and five outdoor pools, including the Großer Woog natural outdoor pool and the architecturally particularly attractive Art Nouveau pool.

According to the Corona Protection Ordinance, a visit to the new north swimming pool is currently only possible by prior appointment.

The 3-G rule applies: If someone cannot prove that they have been vaccinated, recovered or tested, access is not possible.
