The French submarine manufacturer Naval Group lost a contract worth more than SEK 500 billion last week, when Australia announced that they were nobbing the French submarines.

Instead, Australia entered into a defense pact with Britain and the United States and signed an agreement to buy nuclear submarines.

The French government has reacted strongly to what is believed to be a betrayal and the submarine deal has triggered a diplomatic crisis between the countries.

The French Foreign Minister called it "a stab in the back" and diplomatic personnel were called home from both the United States and Australia.

Demands Australia for money

Now the submarine company Naval Group also announces that it will demand Australia for money for the missed order, reports the news agency AFP.

Among other things, you must request compensation for costs for infrastructure and personnel linked to the giant order.

- We will assert our rights, says the company's CEO Pierre Eric Pommelet to the French newspaper Le Figaro.

The company has already received payments from Australia, which covers the almost SEK 10 billion that has been plowed into submarine manufacturing.

Naval Group is partly owned by the French state.
