A nice catch on the high seas. French customs seized at the beginning of last week more than four tons of cannabis resin on board a fishing vessel sailing without a flag, announced the maritime prefecture.

Guided by a reconnaissance plane, the offshore patrol boat

Jean-François Deniau

to approach the drug traffickers' ship before discovering its illicit cargo.

The ship was then in international waters, south of the French economic zone, between Gibraltar and Sicily, in the western Mediterranean.

This operation was carried out under the direction of the maritime prefecture, in coordination with the public prosecutor of Toulon.
