The Democratic Party re-emphasized its existing position that it would handle the revision of the Media Arbitration Act at the National Assembly plenary session to be held on the 27th.

Shin Hyun-young, floor spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said in a meeting with reporters after the party's policy coordination meeting held today (23rd), "We are setting the 26th as the deadline (the deadline for the activities of the 'eight-member council' of the ruling and opposition parties)."

He continued, "There is nothing set about the method of the plenary session on the 27th. We have a goal to pass it on the 27th."

Last month, the ruling and opposition parties agreed to handle the amendment to the Media Arbitration Act at the National Assembly plenary session on the 27th, and formed an 'eight-member council'.

The council has met and discussed about eight times since the 8th, but they have not been able to narrow their differences over the 'deletion of the toxic clause'.

"It is very regrettable that the opposition party is opposing for the sake of opposition," said Shin, spokesperson for the floor. ." he pressed.

At today's policy coordination meeting, senior floor leader Han Byung-do was reported to have remarked with the intent that "there is ample room for discussion on a number of things, including the definition of false and fabricated reports and the deletion of provisions for presumed intentional and gross negligence."
