Overseas Network, September 23. According to the US San Jose Courier’s report on the 22nd, next week, the San Jose City Council in California is expected to pass a resolution to immigrate to the Chinese on the city’s role in historical crimes against Chinese anti-Chinese. And his descendants apologize.

San Jose City Councillor Perarez said that San Jose has always been committed to becoming an inclusive and welcoming city, which means that the mistakes of the past must be faced squarely.

The Chinese community has been an important part of the city for a long time, and San Jose’s belated apology is a step towards healing.

It is reported that this resolution was jointly proposed by the Perarez office, the San Jose Racial Equality Office and members of the San Jose Chinese community. The city council will vote on the 28th.

At noon on the 29th, related ceremonies will be held at the San Jose Art Museum and Palm Circle Plaza. It is worth mentioning that this plaza is where Chinatown was.

In 1882, the U.S. Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act, which further legalized the mighty anti-China movement. Many Chinese cities across the United States were purged.

In March 1887, the mayor of San Jose and the city council issued a decree declaring that Chinatown on Market Street was a "public hazard."

On May 4 of the same year, hostility against the Chinese escalated to its peak. The China Town on Market Street was deliberately burned down and more than 1,400 people were displaced.
