Two employees of a nursery in Saint-Denis-en-Val (Loiret) were arrested and taken into police custody on suspicion of ill-treatment of children.

The victims are said to be between 8 months and 3 years old.

Childcare auxiliaries were presented to the prosecution on Thursday, reports France Bleu Orléans.

They will appear in November before the criminal court.

The accused will have to answer for "violence on minors without ITT committed in the presence of other minors".

In the meantime, they have been suspended from their professional activity.

Insults and punishments

Sources close to the investigation reported inappropriate behavior on the part of the two young women, including insults and punishments.

They also reportedly locked young children in the dark.

About fifteen victims would be deplored without a physical injury having been noted.

Two other nursery employees are accused of having remained silent after having witnessed certain mistreatments.

They will be judged for “violence against minors” and “non-denunciation of ill-treatment of minors” within the framework of a preliminary admission of guilt.
