The man was one of two eighteen-year-olds who were arrested for aiding and abetting the murder on Bokelundsvägen in Växjö, when a man in his 30s was shot to death.
He was detained as a reasonable suspect, the lower degree of suspicion.
He has now been released from custody, after the suspicions were not strengthened during the investigation.
However, he is still a suspect, prosecutor Emma Berge tells the radio.
Two people are still in custody on suspicion of murder, and one person is in custody for aiding and abetting.
