According to an investigation conducted by the National Center for Cybersecurity, they accuse them of presenting cybersecurity risks, in a context where relations between China and Lithuania are quite bad.

The criticisms leveled against three Chinese brands of 5G phones are serious.

These phones are equipped with a content censorship system.

They make it possible to collect personal data or may redirect users to third-party app stores that contain malware.

The Deputy Defense Minister, who presented the results, therefore asked the Lithuanians not to buy any more and even to get rid of them as soon as possible.

The question is all the more sensitive as many public institutions have acquired thousands of these phones because they cost less.

A bill should soon ban their purchase.

This investigation is published, while relations between China and Lithuania have been strained for several months.

In July, the announcement of the opening of a representation of Taiwan in the Baltic country broke the camel's back of Chinese patience.

The two countries have recalled their ambassadors and trade relations are now at a standstill.
