President Moon Jae-in again proposed the 'Declaration of an End to the Korean War' in his last keynote speech at the UN General Assembly during his tenure.

This time, China's participation was also mentioned, and it is interpreted that the Beijing Winter Olympics early next year were considered as an opportunity to realize the declaration of an end to the war.

President Moon Jae-in expanded the number of participating countries by re-proposing the 'Declaration to End the Korean War' in his keynote speech at the UN General Assembly.

[President Moon Jae-in: I propose that the three North and South American or four North and South America and China gather together to declare the end of the war on the Korean Peninsula.]

Last year's speech at the UN General Assembly did not mention participating countries, and in 2018, only three countries were mentioned as related countries. However, this time including China.

It is interpreted as a stepping stone to lead China to play an active role ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympics in February next year.

A high-ranking official at the Blue House said, "Participating in the end-of-war declaration can be a good opportunity for China to make the Beijing Olympics a 'peace Olympics'."

However, as North Korea is not responding to dialogue with provocations such as launching a ballistic missile, and there are signs of restarting the Yongbyon nuclear facility, it is unclear whether this idea will become a reality.

North Korea has not responded to President Moon's proposal, and it is noteworthy that North Korean Ambassador Kim Seong's speech to the United Nations on the 27th will include the relevant position.

In his first UN address, US President Joe Biden presented diplomacy as a measure for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, reminding him that the door to dialogue is open.

[Joe Biden/President of the United States: We will seek serious and continuous diplomacy for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.]

President Moon Jae-in arrived in Hawaii after finishing his three-day trip to New York with his speech at the UN General Assembly.

Here, we are planning to attend a mutual acceptance ceremony for the remains of the Korean War, which will be held tomorrow (23rd) Korean time.
