In early September, Alex Peak received an email from the Russian Consulate General in Houston that his Russian passport was ready.

As the man noted in an interview with RT, this news has become the most important event in his life over the past few years.

Alex said that two days after the message, he received the coveted document in his hands, and the entire procedure for issuing a passport took no more than ten minutes.

“To be honest, I just can't wait to be back home.

I work 10-12 hours a day to save as much money as possible for the trip.

Day after day is not necessary, but I do not despair.

I've always believed that hard work will pay off in the end.

In Russia, I would like to continue working in the aviation field.

I hope we can do it, ”Alex tells RT.

Earlier, RT talked about Alex Pik - nee Alexander Timofeev.

He was born in St. Petersburg in 1986, but due to family problems ended up in an orphanage, and in 1997 he and his younger brother and sister were adopted by a married couple from America.

According to Alex, in the United States, he always remembered Russia and wanted to find his mother.

And last year he made the final decision to return to his homeland.

In addition, as Alex notes, during the collection of the necessary certificates, it turned out that there was a mistake in the adoption document.

It was signed by an ordinary state judge, not a federal one, so the young man is not a US citizen.

In April of this, Peak applied to the Russian consulate in Houston to confirm that he could apply for citizenship by his place of birth.

The Consulate General of Russia in Houston, after the appeal of Alex Peak, carried out an appropriate check, as a result of which it asked to provide a package of necessary documents for issuing a Russian passport.

The language barrier

In an interview with RT, Alex emphasized that "he always followed the news about Russia and continued to feel like a Russian."

After receiving the passport, he said, the desire to “become a worthy citizen” of his country only grew stronger.

“I would like to actively express myself in society.

I have already joined the Facebook group to help other people who want to return to Russia with whatever I can.

I think it's important to help people overcome fear and take action.

I have a lot of plans, but the main thing that needs to be done in the first place is to find my mother, ”he says.

According to the American, all his relatives, friends and relatives took the news of moving to Russia positively, no one ever dissuaded him from taking this step.

Siblings are not going to return home.

According to Alex, they were very young when their American parents adopted them, and they remember practically nothing about Russia, unlike him.

Alex himself has already begun to prepare for his return to his homeland and signed up for Russian language courses.

The language barrier is not the main difficulty that Alex Pik will have to face when returning home, says Sasha Leonova, who was also once adopted by the Americans, but returned to her native St. Petersburg. Now the girl teaches English and, together with other activists, helps children adopted by American families to return to Russia.

“Russian bureaucracy is a nightmare for foreigners,” says Leonova. - In addition to the heap of documents that must be provided, I was constantly asked questions and demanded proof of who I was, why I really returned, why I did not stay there, why I speak English so well and what I really want to do in Russia. It's all hard. Without my husband, I probably would not have been able to fully adapt to life at home. The difference in mentality between us and the Americans is still very strong. Not to mention such trifles as the weather, which you also don't get used to right away. "

According to her, the main thing that she would wish for Alex upon her return is to have support.

“People are the most important resource in the first few months.

Both here and in the USA.

I am ready to contact him when he arrives and provide all possible assistance.

It is also important to treat yourself with love and not condemn yourself if something does not work out the way it was intended, ”Leonova says.

However, according to Alex, difficulties do not frighten him.

Most importantly, he is returning home.
