The agreement will be presented to the Turkish parliament in October, Erdogan said on Tuesday.

If approved, Turkey will be the last of the G20 countries to ratify the agreement, reports the news agency Reuters.

The goal, according to Erdogan, is to have an approval ready before the UN climate conference in Glasgow in November.

Ratification of an agreement means that the state commits itself to an international agreement.

Turkey has delayed ratifying the agreement due to "injustices regarding responsibility", the president said according to Reuters.

Erdogan claims that progress has now been made on that point.

The Global Paris Agreement was developed in 2015 with the aim of limiting global warming and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

One of the goals of the agreement is to keep the increase in the global average temperature to a maximum of 1.5 degrees.

According to a new report by the Climate Action Tracker (CAT), almost all countries have failed in their climate policies to meet the targets.
