The Sudanese government reveals the details of the coup attempt

Hamza Balloul al-Amir, Minister of Culture and Information and official spokesman for the Sudanese government, announced that at dawn today, Tuesday, a failed coup attempt was brought under control by a group of armed forces officers from the remnants of the former regime.

He added: "We confirm in the transitional government and the regular agencies that we are working in complete coordination, and we assure the Sudanese people that the situation is under complete control, as the leaders of the coup attempt, both military and civilians, were arrested and are currently being investigated, after the last pockets of the coup were liquidated in the Shagara camp.

He pointed out that the competent authorities continue to pursue the remnants of the former regime participating in the failed attempt.

He added: "The revolution remains and continues to achieve its goals, and the institutions of civil governance are guarded, by the will of the forces of the revolution and the masses of the Sudanese people."

The spokesman for the Sudanese government called on all the forces of the revolution, including resistance committees, political and civil forces, peace parties, professional and union bodies, and all sectors of the Sudanese people to be vigilant and pay attention to the repeated attempts that seek to abort the December revolution.

He stressed that the institutions of civil governance will not neglect the gains of the people and their revolution and will be on the first line of defense to protect the transition from the dark forces stalking the revolution.
