This is stated in a statement on the website of the Russian Embassy in Great Britain.

“London constantly and without any evidence accuses us of interfering in the democratic processes in Great Britain, and itself openly indicates what and how to do to the citizens and state institutions of our country, then setting arbitrary assessments.

Russia has been and will be categorically against such messianic approaches.

We do not dispute the legitimacy of the British electoral procedures and the authorities formed as a result of them.

But we also do not intend to accept the "lessons of democracy" from a country whose electoral system remains hostage to medieval traditions, "the diplomatic mission said in a statement.

The Russian Embassy drew attention to the fact that "the British side fundamentally does not want to notice new elements of the Russian electoral system aimed at improving it."

“Instead of recognizing these gains of civil society, we see in the execution of the British meaningless statements about“ clamping down on the opposition ”and organizing voting on the“ annexed territory of Ukraine, ”the statement says.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine opened a criminal case under the article on treason due to the holding of elections to the State Duma of Russia on the territory of Crimea.

In addition to the UK and Ukraine, the Duma elections were also criticized by the United States and the EU.
