Recently, the spread of infection has picked up speed again in nursing homes in Västerbotten.

Four deaths in homes have been reported, three in Umeå and one in Skellefteå.

Since Monday, another death has been reported.

It is about an elderly person who has been cared for in hospital.

Stephan Stenmark does not like the situation.

- It's worrying.

We are all going to die, but we do not want deaths that can be avoided.

It is worrying that this is the case, he says.

He now hopes that vaccination of dose three can be started in nursing homes.

"Good if we can start soon"

- We all agree that a dose of three will be needed for this group.

I think it would be good if we could start.

Region Västerbotten can not start with dose three on its own, but is waiting for national guidelines.

- It will be relevant, but I think it would be good if we could start soon, says Stenmark.

Did you expect new deaths in nursing homes after the vaccination?

- We had understood that it could happen.

Now we have the delta variant, the vaccine is good but does not provide 100% protection against serious illness and death.

When you are older and vulnerable, it can happen.
