Figure of the Mitterrand years, of which he was Minister of the Interior and Defense during the two terms of the Socialist at the Elysee, Paul Quilès died Tuesday at the age of 79 years.

An emblematic politician of the Tarn, he was notably a supporter of Michel Rocard.

The former minister of François Mitterrand, Paul Quilès, has died, said Tuesday the president of the Departmental Council of Tarn, Christophe Ramond.

Paul Quilès, who was also Mayor of Cordes-sur-Ciel, in the Tarn, from 1995 to 2020, was notably Socialist Minister of the Interior and Defense in the 1980s and 1990s.
