The subcontractor will only deliver a very small proportion of the engines for riding lawnmowers that Husqvarna group previously ordered for the 2022 season, mainly for North America.
Now, therefore, Husqvarna has filed a lawsuit in the state of South Carolina to force Briggs & Stratton to supply all engines.
"In the worst case, the lack of engines could result in a loss of net sales corresponding to around SEK 2 billion, mainly in 2022 with limited effect during the fourth quarter of 2021," Husqvarna writes in a press release.
It is unknown how Briggs & Stratton will react to the lawsuit and what Husqvarna describes as a breach of contract.
