"The elections to the State Duma in Crimea that took place on September 17-19, 2021 have no legal force for Turkey," the Turkish Foreign Ministry quoted TASS as saying.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that it had opened a criminal case over the holding of elections to the State Duma of Russia on the territory of Crimea.

Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, announced sanctions against those involved in organizing the elections in Crimea.

Crimean Senator Olga Kovitidi commented on this statement in an interview with RT.

Crimea became a Russian region following a March 2014 referendum in which most of the peninsula's residents voted for reunification with Russia.
