The diocese of Lund is also part of the general trend that shows that nomination groups that are linked to politics have done worse this year compared with the church election four years ago.

On the other hand, local alternatives near the parishes, groups such as the Non-partisan Group in the Church of Sweden (POSK) and the Open Church (ÖKA) and the environmental movement have fared better.

Forward to the left

- Then there are exceptions.

It has gone well for the left.

They now get five seats, two more seats than before, as it looks right now, says Kent Kvist, coordinator for church election communication in the diocese of Lund, to SVT Nyheter Skåne on Monday.

Alternatives for Sweden (AFS) has not been introduced in the diocese of Lund or in any of the parishes in Skåne and Blekinge.

They are only represented at the national level.

The Skåne Party in the diocese of Lund (SpLs) also did not receive any mandate in the diocese.

The environment is a church issue

According to Kvist, one of the clearest election issues of the year has been, in addition to whether party politics should be represented in the church or not, the environment.

- Now we see a move.

Voters have endorsed environmental commitment this year both at the diocesan level and in the local parishes.

Environmental issues lie in time.

It will be interesting to see if this move continues over time, says Kent Kvist.
