Several animal organizations in the county have noticed an increase in sales of small animals on sales pages and also accessories such as cages and more.

The children may have studied at home during the pandemic, but when work and school start, you can no longer take care of the animals, says Jeanette Ivarsson at Djurhjälpen in Söråker.

Clear connection to the pandemic

But not all animals are sold.

- For every restriction that has been eased, we have noticed an increase in animals that are to be relocated, but also animals that are dumped, says Nathalie Melander at the organization Brinos in Timrå.

- Many people think it's cute with a puppy or kittens, but they quickly become big and then the interest decreases.

Some get rid of their adult cat and then they get a new kitten instead, says Jeanette Ivarsson at Djurhjälpen.
