President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that the new building of the Turkish House in New York reflects Turkey's rising power, in a speech while participating in the opening ceremony of the building located opposite the United Nations Headquarters.

President Erdoğan stressed that Turkey has built an edifice that reflects its growing greatness and strength, adding, "The building of the Turkish House will be a reflection of our country's position in the international community, as it heads towards the centenary of the founding of our republic in 2023."

Erdogan explained that the building will house the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations and its general consulate in New York, in addition to the representation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in New York.

Erdogan pointed to the symbolic importance of the location of the Turkish House, which is located opposite the United Nations headquarters, noting that the Turkish House is also a symbol of his country's belief in the United Nations, multilateralism, justice and peace.

He explained that Turkey continues to successfully fulfill its tasks in international missions, and is making unremitting efforts to solve global problems on the basis of multilateralism, stressing that his country provides effective support to efforts to establish international peace and security as a founding member of the United Nations.

President Erdoğan stressed that Turkey advocates a more just, inclusive, multi-polar and multicultural world order through the slogan "The world is greater than five" in reference to the permanent members of the UN Security Council.

Erdogan pointed out that Turkey plays active roles on the international scene through its proactive and humanitarian foreign policies, and has opened its doors to millions of oppressed immigrants, in the context of implementing its pledges to work to build a more just world order.

The total area of ​​the multi-purpose Turkish House is about 20,000 square meters, and it consists of 35 floors, on a site opposite the United Nations building, at a height of 171 meters.

And at dawn on Monday, the Turkish president arrived in the United States to participate in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, which will start on Tuesday in New York.
