Eventful evening for some detainees at the Hendaye detention center in the Basque Country.

On Sunday around 9 p.m., a fire broke out in a cell.

The fire did not have time to spread thanks to the rapid intervention of the firefighters.

But two people still had to be hospitalized for a few hours, two men aged 22 and 28.

A total of 24 detainees were immediately evacuated.

Since then, all have been able to return to their cells.

Two of them suffered damage.

For the moment, we do not know the origin of the fire.

An investigation is underway.
