And this year, the first place is occupied by… Copenhagen!

A first for a few years for a European city.

Ranked according to different criteria, the Danish capital obtained, on a scale of 0 to 100, a score of 82.4.

, but this year's introduction of environmental security and "a sense of security in the city" in the rankings propelled the Danish capital to first place.

The mayor of Copenhagen, Lars Weiss, noted in the report the "low crime rate, currently at its lowest level in more than a decade".

Environmental safety also assessed

Each year, the Economist Intelligence Unit examines dozens of factors that influence security and ranks 60 metropolises according to 76 indicators, in five broad categories: digital security, health security, infrastructure, personal security, so, now, that environmental security. Regarding the latter, parameters such as air quality, waste management or the use of renewable energies are analyzed.

Behind the capital of Denmark is Toronto, which narrowly missed first place, with 82.2 points.

Singapore (80.7 points), Sydney with 80.1 points, Tokyo with 80 points, Amsterdam with 79.3 points, Wellington with 79 points.

Hong Kong and Melbourne are tied for eighth with 78.6 points while Stockholm is 10th with 78 points.

New York narrowly misses the top 10, and shares 11th place with Barcelona (77.8 points).

Paris, the only French city in the ranking, is in 23rd place, with 74.3 points.
