US Special Envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad said his country is grateful that more Americans were able to leave Afghanistan, while a Qatar Airways plane arrived at Kabul Airport with one of the Afghan caretaker government ministers on board.

Khalilzad said in a tweet that the Americans had left on a Qatar Airways flight.

He added in another tweet that there is no time limit for the departure of the Americans who are in Afghanistan, and that his country is committed to evacuating them if they want to return.

Meanwhile, a Qatar Airways plane arrived at Kabul International Airport with the Minister of Water and Electricity in the Afghan caretaker government Abdul Latif Mansour on board.

It is expected that the Qatar Airways plane, during the return flight from Kabul to Doha, will carry about 180 passengers of different nationalities.

Kabul Airport had received two civilian flights coming from the city of Herat (western Afghanistan), in addition to a third flight that took off towards the city of Kandahar (south of the country).

Many countries praised Qatar's role in the process of evacuating its nationals from Afghanistan since the Taliban movement took control of Kabul on August 15.

In addition to the evacuations, Doha pledged to fly aid planes to the Afghan capital on a daily basis, as part of an air bridge to provide humanitarian support to the Afghan people.

In a related context, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, called for an urgent humanitarian response in Afghanistan, especially in the field of food and medical assistance.

And Grandi - in a press conference held in Islamabad - expressed his hope that the new leadership in Afghanistan would remain united to avoid a civil war.

The UN official said that there are still many questions about Afghanistan, but he hoped that the Commission would continue its tasks in good conditions.

Grandi added that there are refugees on the border with Pakistan, calling on the Pakistani government not to deport them, as the lives of some of them may be in danger.

He valued Pakistan's role in assisting in the evacuation of United Nations staff from Afghanistan, and its continued support for the efforts of the international organization.

Grandi had discussed with Pakistani President Arif Alvi the situation in Afghanistan, and issues related to Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan.
