According to the organization, only 13 African countries have vaccinated more than 10% of the population against coronavirus.

"Thirteen African countries were able to cope with the task of covering the population with vaccination against COVID-19 ... Meanwhile, the existing shortage of vaccine seriously slows down the vaccination program in numerous regions of the continent," TASS news agency quoted the WHO as saying.

It is noted that the goal thus set by WHO - to vaccinate 10% of the population in every African country against coronavirus by the end of this month - was met by only a small part of the continent's 54 states.

Earlier, the head of the African office of the World Health Organization (WHO) Matshidiso Moeti said that Africa needs new batches of coronavirus vaccine.
