The boss of the Socialist Party calls for the gathering of the left and the ecology

The Socialist Party congress ended on Sunday in Villeurbanne, near Lyon.

A 79th edition focused on the presidential election and after five difficult years and long hesitation, the PS seems to have finally put itself in working order for 2022.

Olivier Faure is grateful to the party executives for having renewed their confidence in him as boss of the Socialist Party, also acknowledging having silenced the divisions: “ 

Yesterday we adopted the socialist project, the first for ten years.

"

In his closing speech of the 79th Congress of the PS in Villeurbanne, Sunday, September 19, he promised activists a campaign for the presidential election "

as we have not done for a long time

."

"

We are the surprise of this presidential election

 "

And he is convinced, the PS has its card to play in the presidential election despite the multiplication of candidatures on the left: "

Because we are the surprise of this deadline. Because we are ready, we have regained our electoral credibility. We have once again become the driving force of the left and of ecology. This rebirth is yours, it's ours, 

”said the first secretary of the PS.

Regretting that the left presents itself as “

fragmented

”, Olivier Faure assured that “

none of us will be able to govern alone

”.

"

To win and transform this country, the left and ecology must come together,

" he said, as the first round of the ecological primary ends on Sunday.

He reiterated his wish "

that the respective electoral results of our formations serve as a criterion to determine who will lead our united forces to victory

", believing that "

the responsibility rests with the Socialist Party to propose a candidacy 

" for the presidential election.

" 

The time for women has come 

"

All is not however completely settled: the party still does not have an official candidate for the presidential one, even if Olivier Faure and the direction of the PS have already made their choice: "

 This morning, I came to tell you that time women came.

There's the one you're thinking about, but I'm first secretary and I can't tell you anything.

But the PS decided that the mayor of Paris should go through an internal vote on October 14 to be appointed.

A primary

in which she will ultimately have only one opponent, the former Minister of Agriculture Stéphane Le Foll.
