France is strongly opposed to the abandonment of the submarine development plan that Australia was jointly promoting with France in line with the new security framework with the United States and other countries.

A telephone talk between the two leaders of the United States and France will soon be held on this issue.

The United States, Great Britain, and Australia have decided to support the deployment of Australia's first nuclear submarine by creating a new security framework called "AUKUS" with China in mind.

Along with this, Australia's joint development plan for submarines with France will be abandoned, and France is strongly opposed, such as deciding to summon ambassadors stationed in the United States and Australia.

Under these circumstances, a spokesman for the French government, Atal, announced on the 19th that a telephone talk with President Emmanuel Macron will be held soon at the request of President Biden of the United States.

In France, the contract for a submarine development plan with Australia is expected to amount to 56 billion euros, or more than 7 trillion yen in Japanese yen, and disappointment is spreading because economic effects have been expected.

In addition, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian warned on the 18th that "the true allies have talked and respected each other, but that is not the case. It is a serious crisis", saying that there was no prior consultation.

At the meeting between the leaders of the United States and France, the focus will be on how to prevent further deterioration of relations and restore trust as an ally.
