New Zealand will return to the top of the world rankings on Monday, for the first time since 2019, after their success in front of Argentina on Saturday in the 4th Rugby Championship day, according to World Rugby projections.

To regain first place in the world, the All Blacks had to win by more than fifteen points in front of the Pumas, which they did by winning 36 to 13, and at the same time count on a defeat of South Africa in front of Australia.

The Springboks, reigning world champions, have indeed bowed to the Wallabies (30-17).

South Africa, world No. 1 since its third World Cup coronation gleaned in 2019, will therefore cede its throne to New Zealand in the next official ranking on Monday.
