China News Service, Kunming, September 18th, title: China's first exhibition hall of the crimes of the Japanese military comfort women system: the evidence is as strong as a mountain that cannot be denied

China News Agency reporter Miao Chao

The 18th is the 90th anniversary of the outbreak of the September 18th Incident.

In normal years, the Dongjiagou Comfort Women System Crime Exhibition Hall in Longling County, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province will hold activities on this day to remember history and not forget the national humiliation.

Affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Longling County suspended activities related to the "September 18" last year and this year.

However, the reporter learned from the Longling County Cultural Relics Management Office that day that they are starting to put the Dongjiagou Comfort Women System Crime Exhibition Hall online on the Internet and continue to expose the crimes of the Japanese army.

Longling County was once one of the main battlefields of the Anti-Japanese War in western Yunnan, China. There are many war sites such as the battlefield of Songshan Battle and the site of the headquarters of the Japanese military and political squad.

Among them, the site of the Dongjiagou Comfort Station is a strong evidence that the Japanese army invaded Longling Mausoleum, harmed the people, and ravaged women.

The Dongjiagou Comfort Station site is located in the center of Longling County. It is currently one of the few large-scale comfort sites for the Japanese invaders in China.

The site, together with the Songshan Battlefield site, became the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 2006. After being renovated in 2010, it was used as a patriotism education base. It was the first Japanese military comfort woman system crime exhibition hall in China.

The exhibition hall records: In May 1942, after the Japanese army invaded and occupied Longling along the Yunnan-Burma Highway, in order to improve combat effectiveness, they successively established comfort stations in Dongjiagou, the foot of Guanyin Temple, Baita and Zhen'an, La Meng and other places.

From 1942 to 1944, a large number of comfort women who were forcibly recruited from China, Japan, North Korea, Southeast Asia and other places lived in the Dongjiagou Comfort Station for a long time.

According to Qiu Jiawei, Director of the Cultural Relics Management Office of Longling County, Dongjiagou comfort station is the largest comfort station in Longling County. Therefore, the Japanese army gathered the comfort women who had been forcibly conscripted in Tengchong and Longling for this round of training, and Dongjiagou became Concentration camps where comfort women suffered sexual violence.

"The Japanese army uses many methods to torture people. It is commonplace to whip disobedient comfort women, use wolf dogs to pull clothes, and use buckets to fill water." Qiu Jiawei said that in the Dong's compound, there is still an abandoned well that has been polished and smooth. At that time, this well was not only used to carry water for the comfort women to bathe, but also to "wash their hair" for the disobedient comfort women. The Japanese army used a well rope to hang the rebellious or disobedient comfort women upside down into the well. Go to water.

Qiu Jiawei told reporters that according to the memories of the local elderly, the comfort station had more than 60 comfort women stationed there. Normally, there were 15 to 20 comfort women in the comfort station, and each comfort woman received 5 to 6 Japanese soldiers every day. Under special circumstances , Receiving more than 10 Japanese soldiers.

In May 1944, the Chinese Expeditionary Force launched a counter-offensive in western Yunnan. After the restoration of Longling County in November, the bodies of many comfort women and Japanese soldiers were found near the Dongjiagou Comfort Station.

“Dongjiagou Comfort Women System Crime Exhibition Hall opened to the public since 2010, and it receives more than 50,000 visitors every year.” Qiu Jiawei told reporters that this is a living history of comfort women’s blood and tears, and a comfort for thousands of sufferings. A microcosm of women, it is a powerful testimony and accusation of the inhuman comfort station system promoted by Japanese militarism.

Qiu Jiawei recalled that in 2014, a group of scholars from Waseda University in Japan visited the Dongjiagou Comfort Women System Crime Exhibition Hall. These Japanese left-wing scholars were shocked by the historical pictures and materials in the exhibition hall. At that time, they bowed and apologized to the Chinese.

The Japanese government has always ignored the history of the comfort women system and even tried to obscure this history.

Recently, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology approved five publishing houses to request the revision or deletion of related expressions of "comfort women" in textbooks.

Qiu Jiawei believes that Japan is once again playing tricks in textbooks and playing with word games. This is an attempt to obscure history, dilute and evade historical culpability, and progressively deny and distort the history of aggression. "The Dongjiagou comfort station site is an important evidence of the Japanese military’s comfort women system. There is no denying the evidence." (End)
