"The Basmanny court received materials on the investigator's petitions to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention until November 14, 2021 in relation to Alexei Kurlov, Dmitry Chebanov, Nikita Kreshchuk, Zhanna Chernov and Maria Platonova," TASS quotes the words of a court spokesman.
It is noted that each of them was charged with committing a crime under Part 1.1 of Art.
212 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Induction and involvement in the organization and participation in mass riots").
On the eve it became known that the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the incitement to riots in the country during the voting in the elections.
As established by the department, a group of people from seven constituent entities of Russia tried to organize riots through the network of Telegram channels.
Voting in the elections to the State Duma and regional elections at various levels will take place from 17 to 19 September.
Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia Nikolai Bulaev said that elections in the country are being held as usual.
