Political scientists believe that turnout in the church election can be record high this year when parties on the right are more active and that the debate that is conducted on LGBTQ issues can attract more young people to the ballot box.

- Many want to be involved and influence and this is a chance for young people to vote.

It feels great to be able to participate and vote and ensure that we have a better future, says Sonja Morin, 18 years old in Lidköping.

Sonja and Anna are involved in the Church of Sweden here in Lidköping - and for them it is obvious to go and vote.

Turnout in the church election is usually low.

In 2017, it was 19 percent.

It was still the highest in 83 years.

But with parties on the right wing active, political scientists expect a new record this year.
