According to information to SVT Nyheter, there have been internal battles within the Moderates since the news that Bali is being investigated for sexually inappropriate behavior within the party.

There is a disagreement about how to behave - between those who want the party leadership to put pressure on him and those who defend him, support his version of what happened and want him to remain in politics.

- It is not a teenager slipping this, but a grown man who is also a member of parliament.

But who, at best, is being bullied like an unruly teenager.

The rest of us had been thrown out immediately, says a critical member of parliament to SVT News.

Today it was clear that Bali is being investigated by the Special Prosecutor's Office for suspected exploitation of children for sexual posing.

Bali himself denies the allegations.

Signs under the candidate's declaration

Everyone who is a candidate or holds a position of trust for the Moderates must sign a so-called candidate declaration.

This states, among other things, that "I should take 'time out' if I am in a legal process that risks being disrupted, or if it risks undermining my ability to maintain my trust".

The Scanian top politician Torbjörn Tegnhammar took a timeout earlier this year following internal calls.

This after accusations of inappropriate behavior, which later together with further criticism led to him choosing to resign.

When Hanif Bali went out on Wednesday and denied the accusations against him, and urged the person who directed them against him to make a police report so he has the opportunity to "clean up", he also wrote:

"Like all moderates, I have written a candidate declaration, which I will of course honor.

But that does not mean that I intend to resign because of baseless allegations. "

Expected "time out" message

SVT Nyheter has contacted the Moderates' press manager Niklas Gillström, who states that some kind of message about time out is expected to come on Friday.

He points out that it is up to Hanif Bali himself to make a decision on time out from his assignment in the Riksdag.

- The party can not remove members of parliament from office.

Then we can of course refer to our policies, says Gillström.
