The first secretary of the Socialist Party (PS) Olivier Faure was largely re-elected in the vote which opposed him to the mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin, Hélène Geoffroy, the party announced to AFP on the night of Thursday 16 in Friday September 17th.

The deputy for Seine-et-Marne, ultra favorite to his succession, collected 73.6% of the votes and Hélène Geoffroy 26.4%, on the 80% of ballots which were counted at the very end of the evening Thursday. 

This victory, obtained during a vote organized from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for nearly 22,000 up-to-date members in 2,500 offices, was a formality in view of the large victory, 72%, of the guidance text. from the first secretary who left last week.

Olivier Faure will not be officially re-elected until the results have been ratified at the 79th PS congress, organized Saturday and Sunday in Villeurbanne.
