Joint letter to the Swedish Transport Administration
The municipality of Lund has tried to persuade the Swedish Transport Administration to move the train stop without result and has therefore joined forces with Region Skåne's public transport board and university in a letter to try to persuade them to move the planned track work which will affect traffic greatly.
- If the carnival is canceled due to the state insisting that the track work is carried out these days, it would be a hard blow for Lund, for student life and for the entire region, says municipal councilor Philip Sandberg (L).
Difficult with replacement buses
Skånetrafiken, which in connection with the Lund Carnival usually plans for extra traffic, estimates that replacement traffic with buses in connection with such a large event will be deeply problematic.
- I think it is very difficult to change on this date, it is related to planning with freight traffic down to both Denmark and Germany, says Göran Holmberg, operations coordinator for traffic management area South at the Swedish Transport Administration.
He says that it has been planned for several years for four train stops to be able to maintain the train network in 2022. Important stops to secure train traffic for a long time to come.

- I can agree with you but it is not always possible to satisfy all wishes and we must prioritize based on very many parameters, says Göran Holmberg.
The weekend of 21-22 May 2022, the route Lund to Hässleholm will be closed from 01:15 to 17:15 on Sunday evening.
The sections between Lund and Helsingborg and between Lund and Malmö roll on as usual, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.
