From this Friday on, the people in Hesse have to get used to new benchmarks for the state's corona policy.

Up until now, the incidence was used as an indicator, i.e. the positive PCR tests among 100,000 inhabitants recorded within a week.

But now it is being replaced by the so-called hospitalization incidence and the occupancy of intensive care beds.

It also includes how many patients are in hospital beds in total, how many people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and how high the incidence is.

The state's Corona Bulletin for Friday shows: The hospitalization incidence, like the incidence, is lower than before.

However, the curve of normal and intensive care beds occupied by corona patients clearly points upwards.

"The hospitalization incidence describes how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were newly admitted to hospitals nationwide in the past seven days because of corona disease," explains the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The available data indicate when the first stage of the new two-stage concept will take effect.

If the incidence of hospitalization is more than eight or if more than 200 Covid patients need intensive care, "further measures to contain the pandemic will be necessary," says Wiesbaden.

It is therefore possible to request a PCR test for test evidence and to extend the 3G rule (vaccinated, recovered and tested).

However, there are still no clear guidelines.

Stage two comes into effect when the hospitalization value exceeds 15 or more than 400 intensive care patients.

62 percent of the Hessians vaccinated

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the hospitalization incidence reported by the Robert Koch Institute is currently 2.24 after 2.51 a week ago.

In mid-August the value was less than 1.5.

157 are cared for in Covid intensive care beds in Hesse, including ten suspected cases.

In addition, there are 388 in normal wards, including a good 70 suspected cases, as it goes on to say.

Four out of five corona patients in intensive care units are not vaccinated.

"The 17 percent of those vaccinated are mostly very old people with other pre-existing illnesses," said the ministry.

According to his information, 62 percent of all people in Hesse are vaccinated.

If the children and adolescents under the age of twelve are excluded, it is almost 70 percent.

The incidence fell from 90.9 the previous day to just under 87. The RKI has recorded 924 new cases after almost 1300 a week ago. There are also four deaths related to Covid-19. Since the pandemic began in March of last year, almost 325,000 Hessians have officially contracted a variant of the corona virus, and 7687 deaths have to be mourned.
