Member of Parliament Monica Haider (S) from Älmhult is a hunter herself and supports the proposal.

At the beginning of September, she invited other Social Democrats from the Riksdag's business committee to Teleborg in Växjö, where wild boar roamed the lawn last winter.

- I think it is good that the government sees the problem and that they actually add money and resources, says Monica Haider.

The game damage has doubled

A new study from LRF shows that the number of game damage to crops and crops has doubled in Småland in the last six years.

Why have no political measures been taken before?

- So you have done things before, but now you have seen that the problem has become bigger.

And then we need to do more, says Monica Haider.

Trichinella samples were free

The wild boar package, as the investment from the government is called, was presented as early as 2019. The investment in the budget bill 2022 is now being strengthened to increase demand for wild boar meat.

In the proposal, 30 million will go to investment support that will enable wild boar meat to reach consumers more easily.

And 22 million will go to collaboration between landowners, tenants and hunters.

In addition, the trichinae samples are proposed to be subsidized until 2025.

But parts of the investment have also been criticized.

The trichinae samples were already free in June for individual hunters, but not for game handling facilities, which most hunters use after the hunt.

Can it be changed in the expanded investment?

- It is very possible, but as far as I know it is not really talked about, says Monica Haider.
