Mat2021 includes various food activities in restaurants, digital seminars and a cookalong with TV chef Tareq Taylor, known from the SVT program Trädgårdsdrömmar.

Karin Lindahl, who runs Kasteberg farm by Lagaån in Ljungby municipality, participated in the seminar "Swedish legumes on the plate" on Wednesday to discuss the possibility of growing more legumes in Småland.

- I have gone to the fridge and looked at how many imported products there are in our vegetarian alternatives, and then I have thought that we must be able to make very fine alternatives that are grown in Sweden, says Karin Lindahl.

In the clip, Karin shows off her steaks made from yellow peas, which she grew at home on the farm.

82 percent in Småland want to favor local products

Living in Småland and also on Öland is at the top of Sweden when it comes to the proportion of residents who want to benefit local producers.

Here, 83 percent of the inhabitants want to benefit the area by buying local products.

The national average is 72 percent.

Karin Lindahl does not think it is so strange that the interest is great right here because we are a rural county.

- We live close to our food producers, so I think it is the proximity that makes you interested, she says.
