"Immediately after the hasty, to put it mildly, hasty withdrawal of US troops and their allies from Afghanistan and the coming to power of the Taliban movement (Taliban *), at the extraordinary summit of the CSTO, we exchanged views on the dangers associated with the radically changed situation in this country." - Putin said.

He noted that "then everyone supported the conclusion that in the current conditions the closest coordination and cohesion of the CSTO member states is more demanded than ever."

Earlier, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon discussed the situation on the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan during talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Russian Deputy Chief of Staff Dmitry Kozak.

* "Taliban" - the organization was recognized as terrorist by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of February 14, 2003.
